Apple Snaffle plays very much like Boulder Dash, with one key twist—diamonds are replaced by apples, and a few unique mechanics give the game its own personality. You control a well-animated character equipped with a spinning drill, and if you leave him idle, he’ll even pull out a brown bag lunch for a quick break.
 
One standout feature is your character’s unusual hard hat. Instead of being crushed by falling boulders, any impact triggers an explosive reaction—thanks to a built-in TNT charge. When a rock hits your head, it sets off an 8-block explosion centered on your character. This can be incredibly useful for clearing obstacles, opening new paths, or escaping tight situations. However, it comes with a downside: the blast can also destroy apples.
 
Since every apple must be collected to complete a level, losing even one means you’ll need to restart. Fortunately, the game is forgiving—you don’t “die” in the traditional sense. Instead, you’re working against the clock, and you can reset a level as many times as needed.
 
The game shines with its smooth animations, charming sound effects, and enjoyable gameplay. However, it feels incomplete in its current state. Only four levels are available out of a planned forty, the options screen is empty, and while there is a high score table and a title theme, the scoring system itself isn’t fully functional yet.
