Your Atari or Sears CX2600 six-switch console may still power on and play, but after decades of use and storage, several internal components can begin to fail or drift out of specification. Aging parts can contribute to common issues such as color palette discoloration, weak or missing audio until the system warms up, unstable power, or unreliable connections.
 
This restoration kit was assembled to closely match the original components used in these classic consoles while improving long-term reliability where appropriate. Atari sourced parts from a variety of manufacturers during production, so this kit includes high-quality replacements from reputable manufacturers that are either exact replacements or very close functional equivalents.
 
Compatibility:

Designed for Atari and Sears CX2600 six-switch consoles, including both “heavy sixer” and “light sixer” models. Please compare the components in your console before installation, as production variations may exist.
 
Kit includes:
 
• 2200µF 16V axial electrolytic capacitor
CE Manufacturing, Japan
 
• Two 4.7µF 50V axial electrolytic capacitors
NIC, Japan
 
• Two 820pF 63V polystyrene capacitors
TRW, USA
Polystyrene capacitors are heat sensitive. Use a heat-sink clip or alligator clip while soldering to help prevent excess heat from reaching the capacitor body.
 
• Two 0.22µF 100V polyester film “green chicklet” capacitors

• 3.5mm threaded DC power jack
Made in Japan
Many original power jacks become dirty, loose, broken, or lose spring tension over time, resulting in poor power connection.
 
• L7805CV voltage regulator
STMicroelectronics, various countries of origin
Rated for 1A service. Original regulators were commonly rated for only 1/2A and can occasionally fail with age.
 
• Packet of heat sink compound
Included for proper installation of the replacement voltage regulator.
 
Installation note:

Installation requires opening the console and soldering to the circuit board while observing polarity on some of the capacitors where applicable. This kit is intended for users with basic electronics repair experience. If you are not comfortable soldering or working inside vintage electronics, professional installation is recommended.
 
This kit is ideal for collectors, restorers, and hobbyists who want to preserve the originality and reliability of their Atari or Sears six-switch console using carefully selected, high quality replacement components.  BEWARE OF KITS WITH CHEAP, OFF BRAND COMPONENTS.  NO CAPACITORS IN THIS KIT ARE CHINESE!!!!
