Robots Rumble is an arcade puzzle platformer for the Atari 7800, based on the original Spectrum game by Miguetelo and later ported to the Commodore 64, VIC-20, and Plus/4.
 
You are Slade: 45 years old, hard at work, and very good at one thing—destroying broken robots.
 
Across four dangerous planets, malfunctioning robots are on the loose, and it is your job to guide them to their doom. Using only two large, aging magnets, you must manipulate each robot’s movement and send it tumbling into the lava. Position your magnets carefully, manage your power, and think fast. If both magnets are aligned with a robot, the robot will stop moving, giving you a chance to plan your next move.
 
Your magnets run on limited battery power, so collect batteries scattered throughout each stage to keep them charged. Run out of energy, and your mission ends. Avoid the green kryptonite stones at all costs; if a robot touches one, it will explode and pollute the entire planet. Sentinels also patrol the area, adding another danger to an already hazardous job.
 
Robots Rumble includes multiple ways to play. Beginner Mode, new for the Atari 7800, lets you learn the art of magnetic robot control with a little less pressure. Pro Mode challenges your mind and reflexes as you guide each robot into the lava before your power runs out. Speed Run Mode, also new for the Atari 7800, lets experienced players race against the clock for the fastest time in the galaxy.
 
Control options include one-joystick and two-joystick play. Move the joystick up and down to adjust the active magnet, which is highlighted on screen. In One Joystick Mode A, hold Button 1 to temporarily switch magnets, or tap Button 2 to alternate between them. In One Joystick Mode B, Button 1 activates the left magnet and Button 2 activates the right magnet. For two-joystick play, use the left joystick to control the left magnet and the right joystick to control the right magnet.
 
Guide the robots. Conserve your power. Avoid disaster. Slade has a job to do, and the planets are counting on him.
