SPIDERS – ATARI 2600

The invasion has begun, and these are no ordinary spiders!

Spiders is a fast-paced arcade-style shooter for the Atari 2600 in which you control a small spacecraft positioned along the bottom of the screen. Your mission is to destroy the pulsating cocoons scattered across the playfield before they release too many deadly spiders.

Blast the cocoons and spiders while dodging enemy fire raining down from above. Any spiders that slip past your defenses increase the danger, forcing you to react quickly and keep the swarm under control. Clear the screen and you’ll face a bonus spider before advancing to the next round.

As the game progresses, the action becomes faster and more challenging, with increasingly aggressive spiders and heavier enemy fire. The result is a frantic, addictive shooting game reminiscent of classic arcade favorites such as Space Invaders and Centipede, but with its own unique creepy-crawly theme.

Spiders was originally intended for release by UA Limited in 1983 but never received a standard commercial release for the Atari 2600. Based on the 1981 arcade game by Sigma Enterprises, this previously unreleased title offers Atari collectors and enthusiasts the opportunity to experience another fascinating piece of Atari 2600 history.
