Space Invaders Deluxe is far more than a simple graphical update—it enhances the classic formula with new features, refined visuals, and gameplay tweaks inspired by the arcade original.
 
The invaders have been redesigned to more closely match their arcade counterparts and now shift colors as they descend. The Command Ship has also been updated with a new look, a glowing effect, and displays its point value when destroyed. Bunkers have been reworked, double shots are enabled by default, and explosion animations have been simplified to a single frame to better mirror the original game. The “S.O.S.” intermission between waves has also been restored.
 
Additional gameplay variations add variety and challenge, including moving shields, zigzagging or fast enemy shots, and even invisible invaders that briefly appear when hit. Players can also enable larger laser cannons using the console’s difficulty switch.
 
Further refinements include streamlined enemy types, improved alignment and spacing, arcade-accurate colors, a redesigned ground area, and updated sound effects—making this version a more authentic and dynamic take on the classic Space Invaders experience.
