Unlike the standard ColecoVision release of Donkey Kong, which was heavily scaled down due to cartridge memory limitations, Super DK was developed from a more advanced internal version that utilized the full capabilities of the ColecoVision hardware. The original pack-in game omitted several arcade features and animations in order to fit into a smaller ROM, but Super DK restores many of the elements that fans wished had been included from the beginning.
