Sport Goofy – Atari 5200

Experience one of the Atari 5200's fascinating unreleased games with Sport Goofy!

Originally developed by Atari in 1983, Sport Goofy was planned as part of Atari's collaboration with Disney but was ultimately cancelled before reaching store shelves. Although the game never received an official commercial release, development progressed to a completed version, allowing Atari 5200 collectors to enjoy this once-lost piece of Atari history today.

Featuring Disney's lovable Goofy, the game includes two completely different events:

Marathon Dive

Guide Goofy through a multi-level obstacle course as he climbs toward the diving platform at the top of the screen. Avoid roaming tanks, leap across gaps, and make your way upward before time expires. Once Goofy reaches the top, the challenge isn't over—you'll need to guide his fall toward the moving platform waiting below.

As you progress, enemies become faster, platforms become more treacherous, and successfully completing Goofy's rather unconventional dive becomes increasingly challenging.

Pogo Pop

Goofy trades diving for a pogo stick in this arcade-style challenge. Bounce across a field of platforms while attempting to touch the tiles and pop the colorful Mickey Mouse-shaped balloons floating overhead for bonus points.

There's a catch: tiles disappear as Goofy moves across them, so you'll need to carefully plan each jump to avoid dropping through the floor. Later rounds become progressively faster and more difficult.

Sport Goofy combines colorful graphics, simple arcade gameplay, and classic Disney humor into one of the more unusual titles developed for the Atari 5200.

A Piece of Atari History

Sport Goofy was assigned Atari catalog number CX-5237 but was cancelled before commercial production. This reproduction gives collectors and players the opportunity to experience a game that would otherwise exist only as an extremely rare prototype.

Add this unusual piece of Atari history to your 5200 collection and finally play the game Atari owners never had the opportunity to buy in 1983!
